PROJECT CHANGE is a grassroots, nonprofit organization comprised of youth and adults who believe that high levels of youth engagement are essential to building strong, vibrant and healthy communities.
PC youth and adults have a desire to give back and a deep commitment to ensuring that youth have a voice and play a significant role in making their community the best it can be.

For Rising Sixth through Ninth Graders
July 19-23, 2010
PROJECT CHANGE announces its annual Summer Leadership Institute for rising sixth through ninth graders.
Project identification and planning of community service activities
Personal goal-setting and self-assessment
Leadership skills development
The Institute will be held from July 19-23 (6-9pm) at Sandy Spring Friends School in Sandy Spring, MD.
Through participation in this program, youth will:
Be introduced to Project Change and its programs (Community Service Network, You Have the Power! and Youth Empowered Services Network)
Learn the value of high-quality service opportunities
Develop competencies in program planning
Understand the value of participating in volunteer activities, both personally and for the benefit of the Olney-area community
Develop leadership skills necessary for successful, meaningful participation in high school and community service activities
Identify potential volunteer opportunities in personal areas of interest
Have the opportunity to take on leadership roles in Project Change activities
Students will also earn 15 service-learning (SSL) hours. The Institute will be led by PC volunteers and staff, including current PC high school mentors, PC alumni, and content experts in youth development, safety, and leadership.
Applications are currently being accepted and are due by July 5, 2010. The cost of the Institute is $50 and some limited, need-based scholarships will be available.
Applicants will be notified by July 12 regarding their admittance to the Summer Leadership Institute.
